super start for Ely B Senior Division 3 side.

Ely’s Senior B team are playing in the Eastern Counties Division 3 this season after winning Division 4 last season. The squad have had a couple of changes from last year with Paul Masterton  joining  Simon Thompson, Callum Thoday, Yasmine Hausler , Jake Haynes and Hattie Ford in goal.

The day started against the hosts for the day Norwich. Goals were a plenty at both ends but Ely managed to keep themselves in front gaining a 7 – 5 victory.

Match 2 against Walpole B was a somewhat easier affair with Ford having little to do in goal and Ely scoring 18 at the other end.

Game 3 against Cambridge was similar to the first with both teams scoring plenty but again Ely held on for a 2 goal margin , 8 – 6 being the final score.

The last game against an England under 17s select was a friendly as they were a guest team on the day. Ely acquitted themselves well only going down 8 – 3.

Thoday top scored for the day netting 15 with Thompson on 9, Masterton 7 and Haynes 5.

Ely find themselves as the early pacesetters in the league with eyes now on the next tournament in December, where the two teams who sat out the first tournament will be taking part.
